Anando Brahma: Film Review – When Ghosts are Scared of Humans

Verdict: Awesome comedy horror movie that's right on target!

Anando Brahma starring Taapsee Pannu in lead role is directed by Mahi V. Raghav who has earlier directed Pathshaala. It is produced by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi Reddy under the banner 70 mm Entertainments. Anando Brahma is a comedy horror movie and has Venella Kishore, Srinivas Reddy, Tanikella Bharani, Posani, Shakalaka Shankar and Thagubothu Ramesh among the cast. The teasers and theatrical trailer have generated decent curiosity among the common audience. The recently pre-release event was graced by Baahubali star Prabhas. Let’s see what the team of Anando Brahma has to offer the audience.

Ramu (Rajeev Kanakala) lives in Malaysia and hears about the devastating floods in Uttarakhand. Worried about his parents' whereabouts, he returns to India to find them. But unfortunately, he comes to know that they are no more. He decides to sell his house in Hyderabad and settle in Malaysia. He finds no takers as his house is haunted by ghosts. He seeks the help of an estate agent Sidhu (Srinivas Reddy) for selling his house and promises him to give him 20% commission. Sidhu, along with Tulasi (Thagubothu Ramesh), Raju (Vennela Kishore) and Babu (Shakalaka Shankar), stays in the house to prove that there are no ghosts and hence sell the house for a good price. All these three are actually in desperate need of money. Will they succeed in proving that there are no ghosts? What actually is the cause of death of Ramu’s parents? Anando Brahma - BookMyShowTaapsee Pannu is one actress who has evolved more than just being a glamorous doll. Though she has no glamour quotient, she succeeds in getting her act right. Among the rest of the cast, Srinivas Reddy, Vennela Kishore, Thagubothu Ramesh and Shakalaka Shankar succeed in making the audience laugh their hearts out. Rajeev Kanakala is decent in an important role. Posani and Tanikella Bharani are seen in short roles and are adequate. The other ghosts have done a great job as well.

Mahi V Raghav has to be commended for his writing and directorial abilities. He has successfully mixed comedy with horror and delievered a brilliant product. K’s music and Anish Tharun Kumar’s cinematography has helped Anando Brahma reach the next level. Editing by Shravan Katikaneni is decent. Production values by 70mm Entertainments are decent and every penny spent shows on the screen.
