F2: Film Review – Venky and Varun Outshine

Verdict: A perfect cocktail of fun and family emotions.

F2, directed by hattrick director Anil Ravipudi, is the latest and the last among the Telugu releases this Sankranti season. Starring Victory Venkatesh and Varun Tej, F2 happens to be the only full-length comedy entertainer releasing this week. The film has been bankrolled by Dil Raju, from whom this season has always proved fruitful with movies like Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and Shatamanam Bhavathi turning out to be blockbusters. The promos were super fun with loads of comedy and F2 promises to be a movie that is perfect for the festival. Will F2 turn out to be a money spinner for the maverick producer? Let’s see.

What’s F2 About:

Venky (Daggubati Venkatesh) is a personal assistant to an MLA (played by Raghu Babu) and doesn’t have a family. Varun (Varun Tej) is a local guy who hails from a middle-class family and plans to open a restaurant. Harika (Tamannaah Bhatia) and Honey (Mehreen Kaur Pirzada) are sisters with an eccentric family. While Venky gets married to Harika, Varun and Honey are in love. Post marriage, Venky and Harika start experiencing differences. On a similar note, all is not well between Varun and Honey either. Just when their marriage is announced, Varun and Venky leave for Europe on the advice of a friend and plan to teach them a lesson. How they sort out their differences and realize the importance of a relationship forms the rest of F2.

What Works:

Venkatesh is at his vintage best when it comes to comedy. It has been a while since he attempted this genre and he is able to bring the house down, peppered with his one-liners. Varun Tej is affluent in his Telangana accent and manages to complement Venkatesh. Tamannaah and Mehreen were wonderful in their parts too. It is nice to see Annapurna and Y. Vijaya after a long time. Everyone including Prakash Raj, Jhansi, Brahmaji, Raghu Babu, Venella Kishore and Anasuya bring their best and give the desired output.

Director Anil Ravipudi is one of the few directors who has a great sense of humor. Though his earlier movies do not entirely fall into the comedy genre, the entertaining episodes is a testimony of the fact of how revered is he into comedy. Now, he has exploited all his talent with a full-length comedy genre in the form of F2. Devi Sri Prasad’s music and Sameer Reddy’s camera work are appreciable.

What Could’ve Been Better:

The storyline lacks substance. Nevertheless, Anil is successful in engaging the audience with loads of comedy.

Why You Should Watch:

F2 is a perfect family outing for the season and promises to be a perfect cocktail of family and fun emotions that will work with all sections of the audience.
