Natural Star Nani is one reliable actor who brings us a mix of new genres in every movie. When he collaborated with the creative director, Vikram Kumar, the expectations were set high. Ever since the intriguing trailer laced with fun moments was released, Gang Leader is generating a good buzz for the right reasons. The RX 100 fame Karthikeya plays the role of an antagonist and five female characters of different age groups forming the core cast. While Nani’s previous release Jersey garnered critical reception for his subtle act, let’s see what he has to offer for viewers watching Gang Leader.
What’s Gang Leader About:
Pencil Parthasarathy (Nani) is a writer famous for writing fraud revenge stories. One commonplace incident in his life brings together five unrelated females of different age groups who’re seeking revenge. Knowing about Pencil Parthasarathy’s skills, they take his help to avenge and they make him their Gang Leader. In an attempt to write an original story, Pencil Parthu agrees to help them. Dev (Kartikeya) is a racer and forms an important part of this crusade. Whether or not Pencil Parthasarathy succeeds in accomplishing their mission forms the rest of the story.
Well, what makes Nani movies an interesting watch is undoubtedly his choice of selection of scripts. He ensures that there is enough novelty in every movie and Gang Leader joins the league. This is yet another memorable performance from Nani. The female gang of five comprising of Priyanka, Lakshmi, Saranya, Shriya, and Praanya is a delight to watch. While Karthikeya has proved his caliber as a hero, he is just as good a villain, if not better. Venella Kishore and Priyadarshi bring in the laughs and the rest of the cast is apt. Vikram Kumar is yet another director who has tried his hand at various genres and has been successful. He has kept this streak going strong with Gang Leader. Anirudh’s background score and music stand out while Miroslaw’s visuals are a feast for the viewers. The editing by Naveen Nooli is flawless and the production values by Mythri Movie Makers are top-class.
What Could Have Been Better:
While Gang Leader has all the ingredients that we seek in any mainstream entertainer, the movie seems a little rushed just before the climax.
