Verdict: A perfect comedy entertainer with a very relevant message.
Meda Meeda Abbayi, starring Allari Naresh and Nikila Vimal in lead roles, is directed by Prajith.G and produced by Bopanna Chandrasekhar. This is the first Telugu movie for Prajith.G. Meda Meeda Abbayi is a remake of a Malayalam movie titled Oru Vadakkan Selfie, starring Nivin Pauly and Manjima Mohan. Let’s see if Allari Naresh and the rest of actors could match up with the Malayalam version and if Prajith has succeeded in remaking the original to suit the nativity of Telugu audience.
Srinu (Allari Naresh) is pushed to pursue his engineering course but is very poor in studies. His parents are worried about his future. Allari Naresh develops an interest in movie making and plans to make a short movie with his friends. Due to some unforeseen incidents, they lose the camera with which the short movie was shot. In the meanwhile, Sindhu (Nikila Vimal) and her family come to stay at the house opposite Srinu's home. Srinu starts falling for Sindhu but never tells her. He leaves his home and catches a train to Hyderabad to try his luck in movie direction without telling his parents. He accidentally finds Sindhu in the same compartment and takes a selfie without really knowing her. He sends the selfie to his friends and tells them that he and Sindhu are going to Hyderabad. He loses the phone shortly and cannot keep in touch with his friends and family. His efforts to begin his career as a film director go in vain and without much luck. He gets frustrated and returns home. When he gets back, everyone back home, including his parents, start questioning him about Sindhu and her whereabouts. Why did Sindhu elope? How is Srinu connected with her? To know all these and the rest of story, one has to see Meda Meeda Abbayi.
Allari Naresh is at his usual best in comedy and did full justice to his role. Avasarala Srinivas played his role to perfection as the private detective and later reveals his real identity. Hyper Aadi as Bandla Babji was excellent. Rest of the cast was apt in their roles.
Prajith has successfully remade his original Malayalam movie to suit the Telugu audience. Music by Shaan Rahman and cinematography by Unni S Kumar are wonderful. Editing and art work is decent.
