Mental Madilo: Film Review – A Breath of Fresh Air

Verdict: A feel-good love story with heart touching moments.

Mental Madilo starring Sree Vishnu, Nivetha Pethuraj and Amrutha Srinivasan in lead roles is written and directed by Vivek Athreya and produced by Raj Kandukuri under Dharmapatha creations. Presented by Suresh Babu, this movie comes from the same banner that produced Pellichoopulu. Since Pellichoopulu is considered a cult classic and generated huge revenue in terms of ROI, the expectations from Mental Madilo are quite high. The music and background score is rendered by Prashanth R Vihari while Cinematography is handled by Vedaraman. Along with the lead pair, we also have Sivaji Raja and Anitha Chowdhary in prominent roles among the rest of the cast. Let’s see whether Mental Madilo is able to impress the audience and meet their expectations.

Mental MadiloWhat’s Mental Madilo About:

Aravind (Sree Vishnu) is a confused guy and always has difficulty in choosing the right choice among the given options. He works in a software firm and is very shy when it comes to talking to girls. After many rejected marriage proposals from either end, his marriage gets fixed with Swetcha (Nivetha Pethuraj). They connect instantly, however, their engagement gets delayed due to the death of Swetcha’s grandmother at the time of their engagement ceremony. When everything seems to be going well being Aravind and Swetcha, a new girl Renu (Amrutha Srinivasan) enters Aravind’s life when he is sent on a project tour to Mumbai from his company. Aravind and Renu also connect instantly and a time comes when he has to choose between Swetcha and Renu. What happens next must be seen on silver screen.

What Works:

Emotions worked very well for Mental Madilo as it has touching moments throughout the movie. The dialogues and the love track between the lead characters is absorbing. On top of that, cinematography and music were fascinating as well. Sree Vishnu does a great job as a confused guy and this movie will be remembered as one of the classics in his career. Nivetha makes a promising debut. Amrutha Srinivasan did a good job and will be seen in the second half. The screenplay of the movie in the second half is commendable. Production values are great.

What Could Have Been Better:

It looks bit unconvincing of how Aravind fell in love with Renu after being deeply in love with Swetcha. However, as the movie progresses, the emotions between these characters come back to life.

Why You Should Watch:

Mental Madilo is a neat and clean family entertainer that can be watched with families. This is a must-watch movie for people who love to watch feel-good love stories. You will love Mental Madilo if you have liked movies like Anand and Pellichoopulu.
