Rangasthalam: Film Review – Ram Charan Raises The Bar!

Verdict: Sukumar does it again!

Mega-power star Ram CharanSamantha, and Director Sukumar join hands for the first time with Rangasthalam. After the super success of Dhruva, Ram Charan is now back in a movie set in 1985. From the teaser, Cherry is seen playing the role of a deaf person. The teaser, trailer, and audio tracks have created immense buzz about this film, which translated to the humongous advance bookings. Among the rest of the cast, we have Aadhi PinisettyAnasuyaPrakash RajJagapati BabuAmit SharmaRohiniNaresh, and others. Pooja Hegde is seen in an item number. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the music and background score is rendered by Devi Sri Prasad, while the cinematography is handled by Rathnavelu. The editing is taken care of by Navin Nooli. In recent times, Rangasthalam is the longest film after Arjun Reddy. Let’s see what Sukumar had to tell the audience. 


What’s Rangasthalam About:

The movie begins with the accident of Dakshina Murthy (Prakash Raj) where his car is hit by a lorry and Chittibabu (Ram Charan) rushes him to hospital. The story then goes into a flashback. A few months earlier, Chittibabu was a partially hearing-impaired person who lived in a village named Rangasthalam with his parents, a Dubai-returned brother, Kumar Babu (Adi Pinisetty), and a sister. Chittibabu fell in love with Rama Lakshmi (Samantha) from the same village. Phanindra Bhupathi (Jagapathi Babu) was the unprecedented president of this village for 30 years. However, a conflict led to a situation where Kumar Babu filed a nomination to contest against Phanindra Bhupathi with the help of Dakshina Murthy. Meanwhile, Mangammatha (Anasuya) reveals a dark truth about Phanindra Bhupathi. Would Kumar Babu win his fight against the village president? Will Chittibabu be able to save his family and villagers from his evil clutches? Who is Dakshina Murthy and what is the mystery behind his accident? To know all these and many more twists, one must watch Rangasthalam.

What Works:

This is a dream act from Ram Charan, who delivers undoubtedly the best performance of his career. He is fantastic in the role of a partially-impaired person and has excelled in all crafts of acting. Sukumar is successful in making use of the best of talent from the entire cast and crew. Cinematographymusic, and background score needs special mention.

What Could've Been Better:

An item song and a few scenes in the second half could have been avoided. Rest assured, this movie is an overall entertainer.

Why You Should Watch:

Rangasthalam is a commercial classic that is a must-watch. This is a treat for Mega fans and Ram Charan is bound to take home many awards for his splendid act.
