Verdict: Superstar at his best.

With back-to-back hits like Bharat Ane Nenu and Maharshi, Superstar Mahesh Babu is now back with Sarileru Neekevvaru. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, who doesn’t have a flop in his movie career, their combination is bound to set high expectations. Added to it is the re-entry of Lady Superstar, Vijayashanti, after more than a decade. Jointly produced by AK Entertainments, Sri Venkateswara Creations and G Mahesh Babu Entertainment Pvt Ltd, the movie was wrapped in a span of seven months, which is a rarity of sorts for any big-budget movie.

What’s Sarileru Neekevvaru About:

Ajay Krishna (Mahesh Babu) is a Major in the Indian Army, stationed at the Kashmir base. His colleague, Ajay (Satya Dev) is battling for life after getting injured in a battle. Ajay Krishna leaves for Kurnool to inform professor Bharathi (Vijayasanthi) about her son’s condition. He finds out that Bharathi no longer stays in Kurnool, due to threats from a politician. How Ajay Krishna sets the equations right forms the rest of Sarileru Neekevvaru.

What Works:

Superstar Mahesh Babu is at his best in this commercial entertainer with Sarileru Neekevvaru and it is a delight to watch him. Anil Ravipudi is slowly evolving to become a master of this genre. He is successful in bringing the best out of Mahesh Babu, be it comedy, dances or emotional scenes. Vijayasanthi has scorched the screen with her re-entry and an emotional scene before the climax stands out. Rashmika Mandanna is cute and adds to the glamor quotient. Prakash Raj and Rajendra Prasad are the picks of the lot among the other artists.

Anil Ravipudi knows his strengths and has used it to the fullest. It clearly shows his passion for his craft and has successfully bought the best out of Mahesh Babu. Devi Sri Prasad’s album is lovely as the background score and is spot on. Rathnavelu’s camera work is top-notch and the director could not have asked for anything better. Thammiraju’s has edited deftly. With three big banners colliding, you can witness the grandeur of the production values on the screen.

What Could’ve Been Better:

For commercial movie lovers, you can’t get better than this. If you are not a fan of this genre, you may still watch it for some patriotic moments and a good message.
