Vinaya Vidheya Rama: Film Review – Boyapati’s Trademark Action Drama

Verdict: Ram Charan excels once again as the action hero.

Boyapati Srinu is one of the few directors in Tollywood who enjoys an enormous success rate and his movies have a huge appeal amongst masses and family audiences. He has now teamed up with Mega Power Star Ram Charan for the first time, along with Kiara Advani, for an action-packed family entertainer titled Vinaya Vidheya Rama. Given the terrific track record of the actor and director individually, expectations are mammoth surrounding this flick. Boyapati movies are known to have a stellar star cast and Vinaya Vidheya Rama is no different. With actors like Vivek Oberoi, Aryan Rajesh, Prashanth Thiagarajan, and Sneha among the rest of the cast, let’s see what Vinaya Vidheya Rama has in store for all.

What’s Vinaya Vidheya Rama About:

Ram Konidela (Ram Charan) lives among a group of orphans (played by Prashanth, Aryan Rajesh, Madhunandan, and Ravi Varma), who are like brothers to him. He sacrifices his studies for his family as his elder brother, Bhuvan Kumar (Prashanth Thiagarajan) becomes an IAS officer. Meanwhile, Raja Bhai Munna (Vivek Oberoi) is a crooked gangster and politician in Bihar. Bhuvan Kumar is transferred to Bihar as an election officer and thrives to hold free and fair elections. However, he is embroiled in a deadly fight with Raja Bhai. What happens next is anyone’s guess.

What Works:

Ram Charan manages to carry himself off pretty well in this mass genre, which he has attempted after a while. As a matter of fact, he is the silver lining here and the entire movie rests on his shoulders. He is especially terrific in the action episodes shot at Azerbaijan. Kiara Advani fills in the glamor quotient and her screen presence is amazing. Vivek Oberoi is eccentric as the brooding antagonist. Prashanth Thiagarajan and Sneha are given prominent roles and they deliver to finesse.

Boyapati Srinu has churned out yet another family entertainer with high-voltage action episodes that are suave and stylish. His narrative style in this movie is bound to have an unfuzzy nostalgic feel among family audiences. His handling of the ensemble cast with author-backed roles is also appreciable. Devi Sri Prasad’s music and background score complement the theme of the movie. Camerawork by Rishi Punjabi and Arthur Wilson is fantastic and the duo has given their best. Production values by DVV Entertainments are top-notch.

What Could’ve Been Better:

The latter part of the movie seems to be a little rushed. Apart from a few scenes that seem inconsistent to the plot, Vinaya Vidheya Rama has everything you can expect from a Boyapati Srinu movie.

Why You Should Watch:

Vinaya Vidheya Rama is a typical Boyapati Srinu movie packaged with a galore of emotions. It is a treat for audiences who prefer commercial pot-boilers and a must-watch for Mega fans!
