Verdict: Twists and turns beyond one’s imagination.

W/O Ram is a suspense thriller produced by Manchu Lakshmi. She is also the lead in this film. Impressed by the story narrated by debutante Vijay Yelakanti, Lakshmi Prasanna has collaborated with People Media Entertainment to produce this movie. Vijay Yelakanti is a protégé from S. S. Rajamouli school and has assisted him in movies like Baahubali and Eega. Off late, the Telugu audience has been encouraging movies with novel ideas, irrespective of the budget. A few examples of this include Kshanam, Pelli Choopulu, Arjun Reddy, RX 100, among others. W/O Ram is also expected to be a new age suspense thriller with an offbeat theme. Let’s see if the makers were able to pull it out with conviction.

What’s W/O Ram About:

Deeksha (Lakshmi Manchu) loses her husband Ram (Samrat Reddy) in an unfortunate incident and files a case with the police. She also miscarries. However, she decides to investigate the matter personally when she realizes that the police are taking her case lightly. Facing the odds of the society, Deeksha continues her journey to find justice. Constable Chary (Priyadarshi) helps Deeksha with her investigations. She finds a connection between Ram’s murder and Rocky (Adarsh Balakrishna). W/O Ram explores this connection and more in detail.

What Works:

Lakshmi Manchu pulls off her character with grit and determination. She is the heart and the soul of this movie. Though the story has a striking resemblance to the Hindi movie Kahani, it has its own merits. Debutante Vijay Yelakanti’s writing and narration has been exemplary and is successful in keeping the audience glued to their seats until the climax. Bigg Boss stars Samrat Reddy and Adarsh Balakrishna make their presence felt in limited yet crucial roles. With a run time of lesser than two hours, Thammi Raju’s editing is picture perfect. All the visuals captured from Samala Bhasker’s camera are breathtaking. Raghu Dixit’s music and background score is terrific and matches the tone of a suspense thriller movie. Lakshmi Manchu need to be commended for believing in Vijay’s vision and making sure that the budget is not compromised for the best quality.

What Could Have Been Better:

The movie seems to drag a little in parts and a few things seem unconvincing during the course of investigations. Barring these, there are no negatives and the narrative.

Why You Should Watch:

W/O Ram is a fantastic thriller filled with suspenseful elements and will keep the viewers engaged throughout. Overall, it is an honest attempt and a must watch the movie if you are a fan of this genre.
