Cast: Ranveer Singh, Sara Ali Khan, Sonu Sood
Director: Rohit Shetty
Producer: Karan Johar
Release date: 28th December 2018
After Dabangg & Singham, there's a new Bollywood cop in the making. Rohit Shetty has united with Ranveer Singh for another classic action-comedy, titled Simmba. The film is inspired by Junior NTR's 2015 movie, Temper, and it is being produced by KJo's Dharma Productions. This is the first time Ranveer will be seen in a role like this. He will be performing action sequences like never before and the industry is eagerly waiting to see the new avatar in making.
After Jhanvi Kapoor, Karan Johar is making another contribution to the industry by launching Sara Ali Khan through this production. Sara was actually competing with Jhanvi for this role, but Sara ended up bagging it. The actress was shooting for Kedarnath opposite Sushant Singh Rajput, but is now likely to debut through Simmba, as the movie is slated for an earlier release.
The casting of the movie has already seen many ups and downs. Earlier, the villain was to be played by the very talented R. Madhavan, but due to an injury, he had to back out. Now, Dabangg's Cheddi Singh aka Sonu Sood will play the lead antagonist. But that's not the only thing Simmba has similar to the Salman–starrer. Ranveer's character, Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba, also sports a khaki uniform, a mustache, and classic aviators, reminding us of our beloved Chulbul Pande.
The film has been slated for a December 28 release, initially sharing the date with the next installment of the Dabangg franchise. But the latter has been moved to a Republic day release next year, avoiding the clash. Simmba will also be preceded by this year's Christmas release Zero, that stars Shah Rukh Khan.
