Steven Spielberg Sci-Fi Movies - BookMyShow

If You Loved Any of These Steven Spielberg Sci-Fi Movies, You Can’t Miss Ready Player One

Steven Spielberg's upcoming film, Ready Player One, will release on March 29. This will be the first science-fiction movie that he has directed since War of the Worlds which came out in 2005. If that isn't enough of a reason to go watch it as soon as possible, we have a ranked list of all his sci-fi films that prove that you can't really go wrong with a Spielberg film.

The Lost World – Jurassic Park (1997)

Even though Lost World didn't have as much of an impact as Jurassic Park, it still remains one of the most loved movies featuring dinosaurs. The sequel was even a commercial hit grossing more than eight times its budget.

A. I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)

Starring Haley Joel Osment and Jude Law, A. I. Artificial Intelligence is one of Spielberg's most under-appreciated films. It's about a highly advanced robotic boy who longs to become "real" so that he can regain the love of his human mother. Who wouldn't shed a tear at that?

War of the Worlds (2005)

An adaptation of the H. G. Wells novel of the same name, War of the Worlds starred Tom Cruise as a father trying to get his children to her mother who is his ex-wife, as giant tripod aliens attack the planet.

Minority Report (2002)

Another Tom Cruise starrer, Minority Report depicted the futuristic setting so well that some of the gadgets in the movie actually predicted some technology that we have right now.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)

This is the only sci-fi film solely written and directed by Steven Spielberg. It is not just an excellent film in its own right, it has influenced countless alien films since its release, which is the true mark of greatness.

Jurassic Park (1993)

Steven Spielberg took a book and transformed it into a universe that has held the fascination of audiences for decades. It wasn't the first movie featuring dinosaurs (that credit goes to a 1914 film called Brute Force) but it was the first dinosaur film for most across the globe.

E. T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)

Whether or not you're a sci-fi movie buff, E. T. The Extra-Terrestrial still remains one of those films that have everything you need to be entertained for a few hours, and will leave a mark on you for a long time.

Any adaptation that Steven Spielberg has done over the years, including the sci-fi ones on our list, has been done in style. And, Ready Player One seems to be yet another excellent watch. Where do you think it will come on this Steven Spielberg sci-fi movies list? Let us know in the comments below.
