The second half of 2017 has started with a bang for the entire South Indian film industry. We saw a release of 50+ movies in the month of July. There were blockbusters, sleeper hits, and a few flops. The biggest hits were Ninnu Kori, Fidaa, Vikram Vedha and Sunday Holiday. All the four movies were praised for their unusual narrative. Ondu Motteya Kathe was a surprise hit. The debutant director (who is also the lead) Raj B. Shetty subtly expressed that a love story doesn't require beautiful faces. It requires beautiful emotions which have the potential to touch our heart. On the other hand, films like Tiyaan, Patel SIR, Gemini Ganeshanum Surili Raajanum and Nibunan disappointed us. The sleeper hits of the month were Operational Alamelamma, Pandigai and Dandupalya 2. The month of August is no different as we had 10+ releases in the first week itself.
