They were young, popular and were at their peak at one time! Yes, we are talking about the yesteryear heroines, who scintillated us with their performances in the past. Jyothika, recently returned to the big-screen screen after a hiatus of 8 years with the film 36 Vayadhinile, and the audience are giving her an over whelming  reception. Like her, several actresses are trying to make a comeback in Kollywood. We list a few heroines who are set to rock TV and films.

Last Tamil film: Naan Adimai Illai (1986)
Sridevi made her comeback with the Hindi film English Vinglish (Dubbed in Tamil as, Angilam Vangilam). She is now ready to make a full-fledged comeback into Tamil films with Director Chimbudevan‘s Puli. She will play the role of a queen and will appear as Haniska’s mother in the film. The actress took to twitter and expressed how elated she was to be back in Chennai, and how the city brought back some childhood memories.
2. Gauthami 

Last Tamil film: Iniyavale (1998)
One of the most sought-after heroines of the ’80s, Gauthami is all set to star in the Tamil remake of the Malayalam superhit, Papanasam. She bid goodbye to films post her divorce and her battle with breast cancer, and remained away from a spotlight for a few years. The actress then bonded with her colleague and good friend Kamal Haasan, and is currently in a live-in relationship with the actor.
Last Tamil film: Karpura Mullai (1991)
Unlike her counterparts, this evergreen beauty chose to make her comeback into television. She featured in the medical drama, Uyir. Stating that films take a long duration to complete and she was happy doing TV soaps. However, it has to be noted that the actress did a cameo in the superhit Tamil film, Manam.
4. Sriya Reddy

Last Tamil film: Kanchivaram (2008)
The dusky beauty, Sreya Reddy will return after a five-year sabbatical with the film Andaava Kanom. Known for giving stellar performances in Kanchipuram and Thimiru, this VJ-turned-actress returns with a rural subject once again.
Everybody’s favorite diva, Simran, took a break from the cinema post-marriage, but continued appearing in cameo roles in films. The latest we hear is that the actress will turn producer and has named her production company, Simran and sons. She will next be seen in a pivotal role in the Tamil film, Trisha Illena Nayantara
