Film’s often centre only around one lead protagonist and the story weaves around his character. There is a slightly different format being applied to South Indian films these days. And, that is casting two heroes for one film. These films eventually turn into multi-starrers. Recently, we’ve seen multi-starrers like Yevadu and Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu doing well in Tollywood. We’ve also seen films like Vettai and Arrambam attaining success in Kollywood. These films help in pulling the fan bases of more than one actor. Let’s take a look at some interesting films which feature two heroes.
Nagarjuna’s first hit of the year was Soggade Chinni Nayana. He is now ready with his second release – Thozha which will be released in Telugu as Oopiri. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, this film is an adaptation of the French film The Intouchables. The film tells the story of a quadriplegic millionaire (played by Nagarjuna) and the bond he shares with his caretaker (Karthi).
Madhavan-Vijay Sethupathi’s next
We loved Madhavan’s big comeback Tamil film – Irudhi Suttru, and after the tremendous success of the film, the actor has signed his next. He will be teaming up with Vijay Sethupathi for an untitled film directed by the duo Pushkar and Gayathri. Madhavan has earlier acted in multi-hero films including Anbe Sivam and Vettai, while Vijay Sethupathi has starred in Rummy and Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai.
Ennai Noki Payum Thota
Dhanush and Gautham Menon have teamed up for an action-thriller titled Ennai Noki Payum Thota. And if the news of their collaboration wasn’t exciting enough, we got another pleasant surprise when Baahubali star Rana Daggubati was also brought on board. Now, that’s going to be some film!
Mani Ratnam’s next
It was previously reported that Mani Ratnam’s next will be a multi-starrer featuring big names like Mahesh Babu and Nagarjuna. However, things never took off. It was later announced that Karthi and Dulquer Salmaan might play leads in his next film. Although it’s quite uncertain as to when the project will finalize, it would surely be interesting to see these two share screen space.
It’s not often that you see a father and son share screen space for a film. That’s how Jackson Durai stands out. The film features Sathyaraj and his son Sibiraj in lead roles. The film is said to be a thrilling horror comedy, and the posters of the film serve as proof.
Idam Porul Yeval
Director Seenu Ramasamy‘s Idam Porul Yaeval has been in the cans for over a few months. Said to be a romantic drama, the film stars Vijay Sethupathi and Vishnu Vishal. Looks like Vijay Sethupathi is the first choice when it comes to casting for multi-starrers.
