Looks like it’s the year of sequels in Kollywood. Many times a sequel isn’t made just for the heck of it, but is actually necessary to continue the story and add a different dimension to it. It has to be noted that some sequels have a completely different story and different artists as well. The only thing that’s common between such sequels and the original film is the presence of the lead character. Take the case of the Singam series. It is reported that director Prabhu Solomon might begin work on the sequel of Kumki very soon. The first part generated positive reviews for its unique storyline that revolved around an elephant and his trainer.
After the phenomenal success of Endhiran, Shankar and Rajinikanth have teamed up for the second part of the film. Titled 2.0, the film has already gone on floors, and is said to have a huge budget. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson as well.
Singam is, by far, Kollywood’s most successful series. Director Hari and Suriya are back with yet another film in the Singam franchise, and it has been titled S3. The film promises to be a racy cop thriller. Anushka Shetty and Shruti Haasan will be seen in pivotal roles in this film.
Director Lingusamy may not have faced success with his last directorial venture Anjaan, however, that didn’t stop the director from working on a sequel to his hit film, Sandakozhi. The shooting for the film is supposed to begin this year. Vishal is reported to be playing the leading role in this version as well.
Chennai 600028 Part 2
In 2007, Director Venkat Prabhu witnessed success with his debut film Chennai 600028, commonly known as Chennai 28. Now he plans to make a sequel to it. The film is said to be based on friendship.
