8 Reasons Why You Need To Watch Puli

 ”Attagasamana Puli…Attract panra Puli!”

Yes, everything has attracted us about Puli. Ever since the day the film went on floors, it has garnered unmatched buzz around it. The glitzy star cast, the trailers, and the posters all make this seem like a promising film We’re placing our bet on this one. And, after the highly-successful period film, Baahubali, all eyes are on Puli. Puli is a fantasy-drama, a genre that Tamil audiences don’t get to witness often. And, this is one reason why everyone is excited for the film’s release. Directed by Chimbudeven, Puli has reportedly been made on a budget of over 120 crores. We list reasons why Puli is a must watch:
Vijay’s Unmatched Appeal
Vijay is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in Kollywood. Known for creating waves with his films, Vijay has an unfathomably large fan following, that makes him a mega star. The actor has starred in a variety of films including action, comedy and romance but has never quite experimented with her roles. Puli will be the first fantasy film the actor has worked on. With a toned physique, wearing blue lens, Vijay is seen sword-fighting. He is also seen fighting a black panther. Scenes like these will surely receive whistles and thundering applause from fans. He is also rumored to play a double role in this film.
The Magic
The first trailer of the film opened to resounding success, even breaking the record set by Salman Khan’s Kick, for being the most liked trailer on Youtube. And, now the second trailer of the film has released, and it spells grandeur. It features elements that’d only belong in a mega-fantasy film. Be it otherworldly creatures such as the mammoth-sized turtle, or a Queen casting her magical powers. It looks like we’ll be transported into a whimsical world.
Sridevi – The Queen
Puli will mark the return of Sridevi in Tamil films after close two decades. (Her last Tamil film was Naan Adimai Illai in 1986.) And if a popular heroine like Sridevi chooses to return to the big screen with this film, then it’s definitely a special one. The actress will be playing the role of a queen; a character contrary to the one we’ve read in fairy tales. Her majestic walk, and regal costumes add a new dimension to her role in the film. We can’t wait to see her magnetic performance in the film.
A Glitzy Cast
Puli features a plethora of popular stars. Hansika, Shruti Haasan and Kannada star, Sudeep, are also part of this extravaganza. While the lovely ladies will add a heavy dose of glamour to this film, Sudeep will be seen in the role of a soldier. The film also includes Thambi Ramaiah, Vidyullekha, Telugu actor Ali, and Robo Shankar. With the addition of so many stars, it’s sure to appeal to a wide audience. No wonder then, that the film releases in Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi as well.
The Grandeur Costumes and Sets
Sridevi’s costumes in the film weigh about 10 kilograms. The elaborate costumes in the film include capes and gowns in rich textures and colours, not to forget heavy make-up and jewellery. They have been designed by Bollywood fashion designer Manish Malhotra. Getting dressed in these costumes would take a lot of time, which is why Sridevi did her homework. She would begin getting dressed at 5 a.m, to shoot for her portion at 9 a.m. Now that’s what we call a dedicated actor! We bet you didn’t know this fact about the film.
The dark fort in the film, which is apparently the palace for the antagonist, was erected on 10 acres of land. It is said to have costed a whopping 25 crores to construct it.
The Princesses Of Puli
Shruti Haasan looks flaming hot in the posters of the film! Her look in the film is sensuous yet beautiful. She will be seen playing the role of a village belle. The other beauty of Puli, Hansika, isn’t far behind either. Her brightly coloured clothes and embossed costumes make her look nothing short of a diva.
Vijay and Sridevi Fight Scene
One of the highlights of the film will be a fight sequence between Vijay and Sridevi.  In the elaborate sword fighting sequence, Sridevi will be seen using a sword which weighed 7 kilos and is 4 feet tall! The moves seen in this fight sequence include Kalaraipayattu and martial arts. It’ll be difficult to choose a favorite, right?
The Location
To make the look of the film more authentic, the makers decided to shoot it in a real forest. The shoot of the film took place in Talakona forest (Andhra Pradesh). The forest is home to several animals and birds, and shooting the film without disturbing their environment must’ve been quite a task. Which is which we are awestruck by the dedication of Chimbudeven to Puli.
We can’t wait to watch this film. What about you?
