If there’s one actress who slips into the de-glam avatar, effortlessly for a role, then it is Amala Paul. After impressing the audience in films like Mili and Velaiyilla Pattathari, the actress is back with her latest Amma Kanakku. Produced by Dhanush under his banner Wunderbar Films, Amma Kanakku is the Tamil version of the recently released Hindi film Nil Battey Sannata. The film opened to praises from audience and critics alike. Now, it’s time for the Tamil version to cast its spell on the audience. Directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, the film revolves around a mother and her struggles in raising her daughter, who doesn’t show any interest in academics.

The trailer of the film was unveiled recently and it promises to be an engaging watch. The 2-minute, 40-second long trailer gives us a glimpse into the lives of the mother and daughter. The mother is employed as a house help, and strives hard to ensure her daughter doesn’t get to lead the same life as her. She seeks the help of Revathi (whose house she works in), to find a solution to this problem. However, Revathi’s suggestion turns Amala Paul’s life upside down.
Dhanush has recently declared that Amala Paul will surely be honored with a National Award for this film, and the trailer justifies his statement. Bollywood director Anand L Rai has co-produced the movie, while Ilaiyaraaja has composed music for the film. The film is set to release in June, 2016. You can watch the trailer here:
