2016 has kickstarted on a positive note. The Pongal releases gave the audience a variety of films to watch. With the funny Rajini Murugan to the intense Tharai Thappattai, the audience was presented with movies of different genres at the cinema halls. Two promising releases were all set for a January releases. The Madhavan-starrer Irudhi Suttru and director Sundar C’s Aranmanai 2. Between the two releases, Irudhi Suttru has been showered with the highest number of positive reviews. Directed by Sudha Kongara, Irudhi Suttru is a gripping boxing drama, which focuses on a relationship shared between a coach and his student. Despite being a sports drama, this film delivered some heart-warming moments as well. The film’s lead actress, Ritika Singh, seemed a perfect fit for the role. Madhavan’s role as the authoritarian coach won him accolades.
A sequel of the successful film, Aranmanai 2, delivered what it promised. It offered the right dose of thrills, family drama and comedy, making it an entertaining affair. Together, Siddharth, Trisha and Hansika featured in the first big horror-comedy of the year.
