Based on Vekkai, a novel written by Poomani, Asuran will hit theatres on the 4th of October, 2019. The trailer of Asuran, which released just a few days back, has gathered the attention of many filmy fans. A violent action drama, Asuran stars Dhanush in a double role. Playing the role of a father and a son, Dhanush gets both the parts right. But will his new project with ace director Vetrimaaran be another hit? From the looks of the trailer, the movie will definitely stand out in the weekly release list. The other two south Indian movies that will give it some kind of competition are the big-budget Syeraa Narasimha Reddy and Jallikattu, which premiered at TIFF this year.
Dhanush and Vetrimaaran have earlier worked on Vada Chennai (2018), Pollathavan (2007) and Aadukalam (2011). They have also co-produced Kaaka Muttai (2011) and Visaranai (2015). Their last movie together – Vada Chennai, was a mega hit. It is a part of a trilogy and fans can’t wait to watch the next films. Asuran’s trailer is gritty and bloody. Dhanush’s character hacks people with a sickle, which makes it look like a revenge drama. Malayalam actress Manju Warrier who will be making her Tamil debut with Asuran also has a small part in the trailer. The movie also stars Balaji Sakthivel, Prakash Raj, Yogi Babu, Pasupathy, Aadukalam Naren and Subramania Siva. The music of Asuran is composed by GV Prakash Kumar and it goes well with the film’s mood.
Will Asuran live up to the expectations that fans of Vekkai have from the film? Let’s wait and watch.
