Kaatru Veliyidai : A Dream Come True for Karthi and Aditi

Teaming up all the way back in 1992 with the beautiful and fresh film Roja, Mani Ratnam and A. R. Rahman have had an amazing journey so far. If a Mani Ratnam directorial since Roja makes you talk about how amazing the direction was, it also makes you talk about the music by Rahman. That's how incredible the two individuals are revered in their fields and it is nothing but every artist's dream to work with both in films. And this is exactly what Karthik Sivakumar and Aditi Rao Hydari have fulfilled with their upcoming Tamil film Kaatru Veliyidai, which releases on 7th April, 2017.

Both the leads of this film have mentioned in various interviews how it is a dream come true to be working in a Mani Ratnam movie. For Aditi, it was a childhood dream while for Karthi with this film his career comes full circle. Karthi started off as one of the assistant directors in the Mani Ratnam directed Ayitha Ezhuthu (2004), which interestingly starred his brother Suriya in the lead role.

Kaatru Veliyidai is an intense love story, with the backdrop of the Indian Air Force. Karthi plays the character of a squadron leader named Varun aka VC. Karthi took basic flying lessons and spent time with the officers of Indian Air Force to get into the skin of his character.

Two trailers have been released for this film. The first one focussed on the romance between the lead characters while the second one was more intense with the focus on the war and the turmoil it creates in everyone's life. Both the lead characters share a sizzling chemistry, which is amply supported by the maestro Rahman's music. Songs like Azhagiyey and Vaan have already left quite an impression on the listeners.

Everyone is gushing about the stunning visuals since the look of the film was released first. The amazingly talented cinematographer Ravi Varman is the man behind this beautiful camera work. Varman who has been the cinematographer for popular Hindi movies like Barfi, Ram Leela, Tamasha and the upcoming Jagga Jasoos has done a splendid job with Kaatru Veliyidai. The film is also releasing in Telugu as Cheliyaa and hits the big screen on the same day.
