With Pongal and Sankranthi film releases doing well at the box-office, South Indian film industries are geared up for another set of holiday movies. Sankranthi releases – AgnyaathavaasiJai Simha, and Gang – and Pongal releases – Thaanaa Serndha Koottam and Sketch – did well at the box-office. There are numerous films lined up for a Republic Day release and one such movie was Rajinikanth film 2.0, which has now been pushed for a later date.

So here are the movies that are set to hit the big screen this week:

Probably one of the biggest movies releasing this week, Bhaagamathie stars Anushka Shetty in the lead. Now, who doesn't love Anushka? This time, she has chosen to do a horror-thriller, playing the titular character but also at the same time, an IAS officer named Chanchala. With a romantic angle opposite Unni Mukundan, the movie has a given us a  fresh pairing. The film also stars Asha SarathJayaram and Aadhi Pinisetty. The actress looks menacing in the poster and trailer.

's son Pranav will be making his debut with a Republic Day release. Though this will be clashing with Mammooty's Street Lights, the film is expected to do well considering that it is a superstar son's debut and also because the director of the film is none other than Jeethu Joseph – the man behind the blockbuster film, Drishyam (2013). Pranav plays the role of Aadithya Mohan, a youngster aspiring to be a musician. His aspirations take him to Bangalore where unexpected events take place in his life, trapping him.
