2.0 (2018)

The latter plays a mysterious bird man who poses a grave threat to humanity and destroys everything that stands in the way of his war against technology. Rohin Venkatesan’s romantic thriller starred Janani Iyer in the lead role, playing a 250-year-old daayan named Mohana who lives off of human beings in order to stay young. She eventually sets her evil eye on the Rathod family, leading to trouble and misfortune following them everywhere they go. Kalaiyarasan Harikrishnan plays the male protagonist in this film.

BAAHUBALI (2015 – 2017)

Featuring the highest-grossing Indian films of all time, the two-part Baahubali series is absolutely unmissable. The films were a treat to watch on the big screen with unparalleled technology designed to give you a wonderful experience and now they are available online too. This S. S. KAALA (2018)

This Pa. Ranjith crime drama stars Rajinikanth in the lead role as a virtuous gangster living in the slums of Dharavi. Having migrated to Mumbai from the city of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, Kaala’s story also highlights the sufferings of Tamil migrants in the city who are often victims of discrimination. Other themes like corruption, classism, sexism, and religious and communal discord are also explored in this film.

PARIYERUM PERUMAL (2018)

This Mari Selvaraj drama follows the journey of an idealistic youngster who enrolls at the law college, optimistic about the future that lies ahead of him. However, a chain of events that take place later wake him up to the realities of the world he lives in where not everything is perfect. MYK Kathir and Anandhiform the lead duo in this film that explores romance amidst caste discrimination.

RADIOPETTI (2015)

The first Tamil film to win the KNN Audience Award at the Busan International Film Festival, this Hari Viswanath drama film starred Ramanujam TVV and Lakshmanan Koratur in lead roles. The story follows a partially deaf 70-year-old man who fondly values the valve radio that his father gifted to him as a child. When the radio suddenly disappears, this man’s life is turned upside down, leading to many psychological disturbances for himself and those around him.

SEETHAKAATHI (2018)

Starring Vijay Sethupathi as Seethakaathi, this biographical drama by Balaji Tharaneetharan is based on the life of the popular Tamil scholar and touches upon his many values and teachings of generosity. Makkal Selvan completely transforms himself for this role both in looks and personality and gives a restrained, yet powerful performance. Other important actors in this film include Parvathy NairRamya Nambeeshan and Archana.

SILA SAMAYANGALIL (2016)

With Prakash Raj and Ashok Selvan in the lead roles, this Priyadarshan drama (also known as Sometimes) deals with seven strangers waiting at a clinic for their HIV test results. Anxious to know the reports, they decide to bribe the clinic receptionist to get the results early, eventually learning that one of them is positive. The suspense that follows is gripping as the seven try to find out who among them has the virus.

THEERAN ADIGAARAM ONDRU (2017)

Karthi dons khaki again in this action crime thriller directed by H. Vinoth. Here, he plays a police officer who is entrusted with the task to solve the mystery behind a series of murders with the only clue being the pattern behind the crimes that lead to only one perpetrator. The movie is inspired by a true incident of a high-profile case in Tamil Nadu during the ‘90s, which was solved successfully by the local police of that time.
