Vijay Sethupathi is one of those few stars who don’t let stardom take its toll in their growth as actors. He has found a perfect balance in choosing the scripts that are commercial yet rich in content. He has proved his acting mettle across various genres, be it playing an aspiring rowdy in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, a tough cop in Sethupathi, a journalist in Kavan or a gangster in the recent blockbuster Vikram Vedha. He was recently in the news for the first look of Super Deluxe where he is playing a trans-woman. Clearly, he has an interesting line-up of movies and we are going to talk about one such movie titled Karuppan.

The Karuppan teaser has clearly indicated that the movie will draw our attention to Jallikattu, the popular traditional sport of Tamil Nadu. There are visuals, where Vijay Sethupathi is seen taming a bull, which have gone viral among the Tamil audience. There were several reports stating that the movie is based on the Jallikattu row which happened earlier this year. But when these reports started spurring controversies, the director R. Panneer Selvam made an official statement that the movie went on the floors much before the Jallikattu protests. The movie is about Tamil culture and Jallikattu is just a part of it.

In the teaser, we also get a glimpse of Bobby Simha who will be seen as an antagonist. It will be a bliss for the audience to see both Vijay and Bobby as their chemistry in Soodhu Kavvum and Iraivi was very much appreciated. The music by D. Imman has already received a thumbs-up from music lovers. Tanya Ravichandran will be playing the female lead. The film is bankrolled by celebrated filmmaker A. M. Rathnam. The film is all set for a release on 29th September and we will surely be watching it FDFS. Stay tuned for our review of Karuppan and don't forget to book your tickets! Those who haven’t watched the teaser yet, here it is.
