Malayalam superstar Mammootty will be soon seen in the movie Peranbu. The Tamil film directed by Ram is all geared up for a release on the 1st of February, 2019. So far, this film has been screened at Rotterdam, Shanghai and International Film Festival of India. It has garnered amazing responses at all these film festivals and it rightly deserves all the accolades and appreciation that comes its way. Peranbu, which translates to “Great love” is Ram’s fourth film, after Kattradhu Thamizh (2007), Thanga Meenkal (2012) and Taramani (2017). The story follows the life of Amudhavan (Mammootty) and his daughter Paapa (Sadhana) who suffers from cerebral palsy.

Amudhavan is a self-centered man who struggles to deal with his “not-so-normal” child. However, he gradually changes into a man of compassion as he gets to know his daughter and the various struggles she goes through in her day-to-day life. The filmmaker has not revealed much in the Peranbu trailer, so it would be unfair to make any further assumptions about the film’s plot. If you want to find out more about the story, then stay tuned to this space for the review.

The preview of Peranbu had the press and film industry personalities go gaga over the movie. From praising its direction to the flawless acting by Mammootty, Sadhana, Anjali, Samuthirakani, Anjali Ameer and others, the reception of the film has been amazing.

This is what Director Ranjith Sankar had to say about Peranbu:

If this has not gotten you interested in watching the film yet, then let us tell you that Peranbu also stars the transgender actress Anjali Ameer in an important role. Probably the biggest push forward for the LGBTQ community in the South Indian film industry, Peranbu will always remain special.

When the Peranbu teaser was released, we saw Mammootty trying to imitate his child and her mannerisms to only understand how difficult it is to walk and be like Paapa. He also understands how brutal it is to compare one child to another.

Peranbu releases in theatres this Friday. With a truly realistic plot, this Ram film cannot be missed at any cost!
