Ever since his acting debut in 1969, Amitabh Bachchan has been touted as the Big B of Bollywood. The film industry legend even went on to make appearances in films of several other languages like the Kannada film Amrithadhare or the Malayalam film Kandahar. Now he is all set to star alongside the megastar Chiranjeevi in a Telugu film for the first time ever. Titled Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, the film is based on the life of India’s first freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy.

The period drama is directed by Surender Reddy and is said to be a Telugu magnum opus with a budget of over Rs. 150 crores. We first got news of the Bollywood legend’s involvement in this much-anticipated film earlier this year. Big B even shared his excitement for the project on his blog stating, “Dear friend Chiranjeevi, that majestic super star and icon from the world of Andhra and Telugu cinema, requests for a guest appearance in his magnum opus, on a most valiant period character that he portrays, and I agree .. so am off to begin its shoot in Hyderabad .. in a few hours ..” He even went on to give us a glimpse of his look in the film on Twitter.

Earlier this month, on the occasion of Big B’s birthday, we finally got another sneak peek of the 76-year-old actor’s role in the film. The quick motion poster reveals Bachchan in his role as Guru Gosayi Venkanna. Sporting a flowing silver beard with a saffron robe and a red tilak, he seems to portray the role of a wise old man. Take a look here:

Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy features Chiranjeevi in the lead role as the legendary Telugu freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy who fought the British in the 1800s. Written by the Paruchuri brothers, the film is produced by Ram Charan under the banner Konidela Production Company. The star cast also includes Nayanthara, Tamannaah, Kiccha Sudeep, Vijay Sethupathi, and Jagapati Babu among others. The musical score of the film is created by the popular Bollywood composer Amit Trivedi.

We can expect to see the film in theatres soon as it releases early next year. Till then, stay tuned for more updates.
