We know it’s that time of the month. It’s scary to even check our bank balance right now. Some things are just left unknown until you’re staring red-faced at the guy on the counter of your favorite food store who says that your card is not working. It’s okay, with just three days to go, we have a new month to look forward to this Friday, which also happens to be the day of new releases. So if you haven’t caught The Dark Tower in theatres already, make movie date plans for the end of the week, because this one is here to stay. Based on Stephen King’s novel series of the same name, the movie serves as a great appetizer for the upcoming It, written by the same author. Read our full review here.

Starring Idris Elba and Mathew McConaughey, The Dark Tower has received mixed reviews from critics and audience. While critics found it to be a tad mild in comparison to King’s other adaptations, audience members were annoyed particularly because the film did not do justice to the books. Well, we see why it is difficult to cram eight books into a single movie, but the film is actually a continuation of the series. With the shortage of time, the characters could not be properly established and the pace of the movie was naturally very fast. This did not go down too well with the audience, especially the ones who have read the books.

Book readers are often labeled ‘too snobbish for their own good’. When film or TV adaptations of their favorite books are made, they are the ones leaking spoilers on the Internet, ruining the viewing experience for everyone.

But you can’t faze them all! A lot of people manage the herculean task of avoiding spoilers on the Internet and have no time for critics or haters.

One thing is for certain – even if the book lovers did not like the movie, movie fans are surely interested in The Dark Tower novels now.

You don’t even have to like the movie to want the books. The story and its characters give you a new fictional world to delve into, especially now that Game of Thrones is over.

Not just the international audience, even the Indian movie-goers have a new-found love for Stephen King’s novel series. Here’s what a BookMyShow user had to say –
