‘Mudblood’, ‘My father will hear about this!’, ‘Potter stinks!’ are not phrases Tom Felton is likely to use, unlike his character Draco Malfoy. A glance through his social media accounts shows you how different Tom is compared to Draco. He’s kind, generous, friendly, and definitely not jealous of Harry Potter.
Draco, on the other hand, was short-tempered, spoilt, selfish, and overcome with envy, until the seventh book/movie, where he had a change of heart. After hating Malfoy for six books, Potterheads were happy to see the nicer side of him. As for Tom Felton, his niceness will shock you. On his 29th birthday, we bring you nine instances when Tom was not in character. Take a look:
When he was sorted into Gryffindor
Tom took to Pottermore, and was sorted into…wait for it…GRYFFINDOR! A big let-down for all Slytherins when he decided to post this on Twitter:
Today was the day. I finally did it. I joined Pottermore and was sorted into……..Gryffindor. Heart broken x #slytherinforlife

When he was the perfect gentleman
Draco would push and shove to get ahead of others. Chivalrous Tom, on the other hand, will let a lady go first, like a proper British gentleman.
When he admitted having a crush on Emma Watson
Fall for a Muggle born? Draco would never! Whereas Tom admitted to having a crush on co-star Emma Watson during the filming of the series.
When he shipped ‘Drarry’
Draco may hate Harry Potter, but Tom Felton loves Daniel Radcliffe. He made our ‘Drarry’ dreams come true with this Instagram post:
When he hung out with the Weasleys
Can you imagine pureblood Draco Malfoy chilling with blood traitor Weasleys? But Tom holds no grudges when it comes to the wizarding world’s favorite family.
And then with Longbottom
Malfoy always bullied Neville. But Tom adores the hell out of Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom). They are good friends and regularly hang out with each other.

He even called Ron his brother.
Draco and Ron were always at loggerheads, but Tom and Rupert Grint are great friends in real life. They are constantly pranking each other and post heartfelt messages on Twitter expressing their love.
He surprised me & turned up to the premiere in this t-shirt.
No one is cooler than Rupert.

When he ate at this muggle restaurant
Coming from a pureblood family, anything to do with Muggles is considered low-brow. But Tom loves Muggles and even hangs out in Muggle-infested areas.
And watched Muggle sports.
Draco might be into Quidditch, but Tom is far more interested in Muggle sports, and even tweets about it. Lucius and Narcissa will be disappointed.
Who's gonna win? Manny? Mayweather? The bookies? #MannyvsMayweather

Happy birthday, Tom! Draco may hate you, but we love you.
