A successful film is almost always followed by a sequel. This tried and tested formula has been quite the rage recently. Apart from creating curiosity and hype among the masses and building a franchise, it helps in raking in big numbers at the box-office. Second installments, hence, seem to be perfect bets for producers, too. In the first half of 2015,  successful sequels like Tanu Weds Manu Returns and ABCD 2 have accounted for over ₹100 crore each. It continues to rain sequels and the upcoming ones look pretty cool. Here’s the lowdown on some sequels you can look forward to this year.

Welcome Back
After his 2007 blockbuster Welcome, Anees Bazmee is all set to tickle your funny bone with Welcome Back. The ensemble cast includes John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, Shruti Haasan and Dimple Kapadia. We hope that this edition is funnier than the first one. After months of delay, the film finally releases this September.
Kya Kool Hai Hum 3
Kya Kool Hai Hum was noted as India’s first sex comedy film and proved to be quite the  laughter riot. The third installment of the series is all set to roll and Riteish Deshmukh won’t be a part of the film. While that’s sad news for Riteish’s fans, the makers have roped in Aftab Shivdasani to fill his shoes. Will the fans of the franchise take kindly to this? Only time can tell…
Ghayal Once Again
Remember the super-hit 1990 classic Ghayal starring Sunny Deol? The sequel to it has been long overdue, and is currently under production. Sunny paaji will of course, be seen in Ghayal Once Again, with Soha Ali Khan. The film will take off from where the first one ended and is slated to be another high-octane action flick. Talk about a blast from the past.
Hate Story 3
The third part of the popular thriller – Hate Story is all set for a December release. The franchise has developed quite a following already with its erotic content and thrilling storyline. The Hate Story 3 cast includes Sharman Joshi, Karan Singh Grover, Daisy Shah and Zarine Khan. This one sure seems promising.
Hera Pheri 3
2000-released Hera Pheri still manages to make viewers roll over laughing after all these years and its sequel Phir Hera Pheri doesn’t disappoint either. With Hera Pheri 3 comes both good and bad news. While Akshay Kumar will not feature in this chapter, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham join the gang. Paresh Rawal and Sunil Shetty will reprise their roles. Rest assured; the adorable Babu Bhaiya and the bungling Shyam are going nowhere.
