This Telugu film is an in-depth look at the life of N. T. Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR. It not only explores his film career spanning nearly five decades, but also his political career, where he served three terms over a period of seven years. Nandamuri Balakrishna, son of NTR, essays the role of his late father with Vidya Balan as Basava Tarakam, his wife.
Having released primarily in Hindi, this magnum opus starring Kangana Ranaut has also been dubbed in Tamil and Telugu. It is the real-life story of the warrior queen of Jhansi, who was the first woman in history to fight against the British and started the first war for Independence when she refused to give up her kingdom.
Starring superstar Mammootty in the titular role, this Telugu film focuses on the events leading up to politician Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s (YSR) padayatra or “journey on foot” across Andhra Pradesh in 2003. During the course of the journey, YSR had many revelations that changed his personal life and shaped his short-lived career as Chief Minister.
After the success of Maari 2, Dhanush will be seen essaying the character of Indian Paralympic high jumper Mariyappan Thangavelu in this Tamil movie directed by Aishwarya Dhanush. The movie will throw light on the life of the 21-year-old athlete and the 2016 Summer Paralympic games, where he won a gold medal for India in high jump.
Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy
Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan makes his Tollywood debut with this film based on the life of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. This unsung hero from Kurnool played a significant role in the fight against the British in 1846. The film also stars Chiranjeevi in the lead role, Nayanthara, Tamannaah, Kiccha Sudeep, Vijay Sethupathi, and Jagapati Babu among others.
Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma – The King of Travancore
A historic drama directed by K. Madhu, this film marks the Mollywood debut of Rana Daggubatti who is set to play the Travancore King Marthanda Varma. With filming still in process, very little information is available about the movie, which is set for a November release. It has been bankrolled by Seven Arts Mohan, with a script by Robin Thirumala and music by M. M. Keeravani.
Directed by Srinath Rajendran, this Malayalam film stars Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role, essaying the character of the most-wanted criminal in Kerala. Sukumara Kurup is accused of murdering Chacko who used to be a film representative, back in 1984. The murder was an attempt to fake his own death and claim insurance. However, his fraud was caught and he fled the country.
