2018 was a turning point for Bollywood as it was the year filmmakers decided to experiment with content-rich films and the gamble paid off. Yet, in 2019, it was big stars and big budgets that ruled the silver screen for the most part. We were back to over-the-top action and cheesy romances featuring star kids. It is too soon to say how 2020 might fare for Bollywood, but rest assured, it seems like a busy year for most of the top stars. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, almost all popular Bollywood actors have a big release lined up for the year and we could not be more excited. Here’s what your favorite Bollywood actors are doing in 2020:
Ajay’s big release Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior comes to theatres as early as the 10th of January. After this, he will be seen in Bhuj: The Pride of India, which is slated to release around August, followed by Maidaan, which will be out in November. We might also get a glimpse of Singham in Rohit Shetty‘s upcoming movie from his cop-verse, titled Sooryavanshi.
Varun will begin 2020 with a bang as Street Dancer 3 comes to theatres on the 24th of January. His next venture – the remake of Coolie No. 1 – will release early May, followed by Rannbhoomi, which is slated to hit theatres in November.
Rajkummar begins the year with yet another Hansal Mehta collaboration titled Chhalaang, which releases on the 31st of January. He will then be seen in Anurag Basu’s yet-to-be-titled film slated to release in March, followed by Rooh Afza in April.
Kartik is going to be a busy man in 2020 and all of his films are going to be sequels. His Valentine’s Day release is the much-awaited sequel Love Aaj Kal 2, followed by Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 that comes to theatres in late July. The release date of Dostana 2 is not out yet but it could very well be in 2020.
So far, only two of Ayushmann’s movies have been announced for next year – Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Gulabo Sitabo. While the sequel will be out in February, Gulabo Sitabo is slated to release in April.
Vicky’s first venture of the year will be a horror film titled Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship, which is slated to release on the 21st of February. He will also be seen in the biopic Sardar Udham Singh that will hit theatres in early October.
Khiladi Kumar will have his busiest year yet. While Good Newwz, which releases at the end of the month, reunites him with Kareena, his next release Sooryavanshi will see the return of the iconic jodi of Akshay and Katrina. Akshay will also have an Eid release this year with Laxmmi Bomb, followed by the biopic Prithviraj, which is slated to release in November. He ends the year with Bachchan Pandey, which is set to be a Christmas release.
Ranveer’s biggest project in 2020 is Kabir Khan’s ‘83, where he plays the role of the legend Kapil Dev. The movie releases on April 10, following which Ranveer will be seen in Jayeshbhai Jordaar. The release date of this movie is not announced yet, but it is rumored to be sometime in 2020.
While Brahmastra remains Ranbir’s most highly awaited movie ever, there’s still no confirmation whether the movie will release next year or not. The actor, however, will be seen in Shamshera, which is slated to release at the end of July.
After making quite an impression in and as Kabir Singh in 2019, Shahid is set to start in the remake of yet another South film, Jersey. The Bollywood movie has not been titled yet and will release by the end of August.
Aamir will be back on the big screen in 2020 but you will have to wait till the end of the year for his Forrest Gump remake, titled Laal Singh Chaddha. The movie is slated to hit theatres on Christmas.
