8 Hindi Films Slated to Release This Week

It has been a good month for Bollywood movies. The Indian audience is finally choosing rich content over star-studded films and the result is evident in theatres. Andhadhun, Tumbbad, and now Badhaai Ho have raked up high numbers in the box office, rising steadily through positive word-of-mouth. To end this month, there are eight Bollywood films set to release in theatres this week! Very few of them feature prominent actors and all have a unique story to tell. Take your pick from the Hindi releases of the week*:

BAAZAAR

Director: Gauravv K. Chawla
Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Rohan Vinod Mehra, Radhika Apte

Set against the backdrop of money, power, and business, this crime thriller showcases the story of Mumbai’s city life and its dangerous world of stock trading. In yet another off-beat role, Saif plays the character of a ruthless businessman who will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

5 WEDDINGS

Director: Namrata Singh Gujral
Cast: Nargis Fakhri, Rajkummar Rao, Bo Derek

An NRI journalist travels to India to cover Bollywood weddings, only to uncover a mosaic of cultural clashes, transgender tangles, and lost loves. She also finds love on the way in a dashing cop, but her journey is more about self-discovery and coming to terms with the person within.

Set in Varanasi, this drama revolves around a distraught brother named Kaashi who is in search of his missing sister, Ganga. When the question of Ganga’s existence comes up, Kaashi begins to lose his mind.

MARUDHAR EXPRESS

Director: Vishal Mishra
Cast: Tara Alisha Berry, Kunaal Roy Kapur

This is the story of a couple who struggle with the pressure of childbirth right after their arranged marriage. The drama deals with the problems every arranged marriage couple faces in a hilarious way.

This drama explores the ambitions of a slum-dwelling girl who aspires to work aboard. To chase her dreams, she goes on a journey full of twists and surprises. The movie goes to show whether she succeeds in her mission.

MY CLIENT’S WIFE

Cast: Anjali Patil, Sharib Hashmi, Abhimanyu Singh

Lawyer Manas Verma is defending a man who is accused of assaulting his wife. However, the man claims that he is being framed. To get to the bottom of the matter, Verma starts investigating the case further and uncovers some deep secrets about his client’s wife.

This crime thriller is based on the real-life incident of the abduction, torture, and murder of a 17-year old girl named Junko Furuta in 1988.

This thrilling drama revolves around the mysterious death of a girl named Aanchal. She had many admirers, which makes it difficult for the police to find out who the real culprit is. Whether the police be able to solve the case or not forms the crux of the story.
