It has been a week since the turn of the year but we haven’t had many big movies to kickstart 2019 yet. So for those of you who are eagerly looking forward to watching your favorite stars in action, this week brings you the best of them all. From superstar Rajinikanth to mega-action hero Ram Charan, there are plenty of stars coming to theatres this week with their newest releases. There’s also something for Bollywood fans with the return of heartthrob Vicky Kaushal in an action role. Here’s the full list of the biggest releases of the week:

VISWASAM

Director: Sivakumar Jayakumar
Cast: Ajith Kumar, Nayanthara

Releasing this Pongal, this film is the fourth collaboration of the director and Thala Ajith. The trailer released last week and has already broken records online. The film is much-awaited by fans of Tamil cinema, who are eager to see Ajith play the powerful veshti-clad don. The film also revolves around farmer sentiments, family feuds, and has plenty of violence. So get ready for a roaring superhit!

PETTA

Director: Karthik Subbaraj
Cast: Rajinikanth, Vijay Sethupathi

After the success of 2.0, Thalaiva is back on screen, this time as Kaali. Here, he plays a hostel warden but there’s more to his character than what meets the eye. Things take an interesting turn when Kaali crosses a group of dreaded gangsters. Then, Rajinikanth weaves his magic on screen, giving us a super entertainer that will have us whistling throughout. So catch it in theatres this Pongal!

NTR KATHANAYAKUDU

Director: Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi
Cast: Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vidya Balan, Rana Daggubati

This film is an in-depth look at the life of N. T. Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR to his Tollywood fans. VINAYA VIDHEYA RAMA

Need to kickstart the year with an epic action hero? Well, Ram Charan is here to pack that punch! In his upcoming film, he plays the ruthless Ram Konidela, who is on a quest to destroy his nemesis and his criminal empire after the happiness of his family is held to ransom by the violent crime lord. Needs a dose of action and thrills this weekend? This Tollywood entertainer is a must-watch!

F2

Director: Anil Ravipudi
Cast: Daggubati Venkatesh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Varun Tej, Mehreen Kaur Pirzada

With all the action in theatres this weekend, you’re likely to need a light dose of comedy too and that’s where F2 comes in. The movie stands for frustration and fun but you only get the latter with this movie. It explores the lives of two husbands frustrated with their respective marriages who are willing to do what it takes to make their demanding wives happy. Trust us, this one will be a roller-coaster ride!

URI – THE SURGICAL STRIKE

Director: Aditya Dhar
Cast: Vicky Kaushal, Kirti Kulhari, Yami Gautam

This upcoming Bollywood film chronicles the events of the surgical strike conducted by the Indian military against the suspected militants in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). It explores the facts behind the 11 tumultuous events over which the operation was carried out and its aftermath. THE ACCIDENTAL PRIME MINISTER

He served as Prime Minister of India for two terms but there’s more to Dr. Manmohan Singh than what the media portrays him to be. Based on the memoir by Indian policy analyst Sanjaya Baru, this film explores the economist and politician’s tenure as Prime Minister and the kind of control he had over the cabinet and the country.
