"To make a great film you need three things – the script, the script and the script." – Alfred Hitchcock

Few people know this rule as well as the team behind Wazir, who launched the film’s trailer by celebrating its writers. And who better to kick things off than Javed Akhtar, one of the most prolific of them all.

The legendary poet and writer set the mood for the trailer launch with the haunting yet beautiful poem he penned about Wazir. We were then treated to the riveting trailer, which unveiled the most brutal chess game of all time. The trailer gave us a sneak-peek into two chess players (Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar) and their quest for revenge. However, their journey proves harder than expected, as the menacing Wazir (Neil Nitin Mukesh) looms over them.

Neil Nitin Mukesh, whose characters have had a sinister streak in films like Kaththi and 7 Khoon Maaf, seems effortlessly remarkable as the titular villain. The actor’s quest for versatility has certainly paid off, hasn’t it? However, Neil is far from the only actor stepping out of his comfort zone for Wazir. Farhan Akhtar is all set to add another feather to his cap with his role as an action hero. And he managed to do it so effortlessly that Vidhu Vinod Chopra didn’t even realize that it’s the actor’s first action film!

Though Wazir promises to be an action-packed film, it’s going to be much more than that. In a day and age where box office collections determine a film’s fate, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and writer Abhijat Joshi spoke about their unconventional approach to this film. They are hoping that Wazir will channel the golden era of Bollywood by producing memorable dialogues and a script that will stand out.

Though it seems like Team Wazir has a mammoth task ahead of them, it’s safe to say that they look good to be up to the challenge. So, which part are they looking forward to the most? "The film’s release, appreciation and success," joked Farhan Akhtar.

We’re sure that the accolades will pour in for Wazir, and Farhan‘s wisecrack will be much more than just that. Don’t just take our word for it. Watch the trailer and prepare to be blown away:
