Music essentials: July

2015 has been a good year for music, and July is no exception! This month, we’ve been treated to Janet Jackson‘s comeback, a free album by Wilco and an Amy Winehouse biopic. It’s a good time to be a music enthusiast, isn’t it?

Maybe you only listen to the radio, or you’ve been busy and haven’t had the time to keep up with the hottest new releases. Either way, you’ve probably missed out on some of the best new releases. But don’t fret… We’ve got you covered. Here are 7 of the most outstanding songs that you might have missed this July:

The Less I Know the Better – Tame Impala

Tame Impala are back, and they’re trippier than ever! If the phrase ‘Ignorance is bliss’ was a song, it would be this one. The next time your friend starts bombarding you with details of his/her love life, just press play!

1998 (feat. BANKS) – Chet Faker

So this rework isn’t technically a new song. It’s still a track that needs to be on your radar this month, though. We already loved Chet Faker‘s 1998, but the BANKS collaboration made it even better! Who knew that was possible?

Where Do I Begin – Wilco

Just when we thought Wilco couldn’t top the magic of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, they released their latest LP, Star Wars. And they released it for free! Could this band be more amazing?

Border – Years & Years

Though there has a been a lot of good music this year, the quality of pop releases hasn’t been up to par. Fortunately, Years & Years have come to our rescue with Communion! Border is just one of the many stellar tracks in a nearly perfect album!

There Is No Love Here – Peter Cat Recording Co.

Easy listening jazz has never sounded as good as it does on Climax. Peter Cat Recording Co.‘s newest album is filled with delightful melodies, and There Is No Love Here is one of the finest tracks on the record!

Leave A Trace – CHVRCHES

No one has mastered the art of the lead single as wonderfully as CHVRCHES. The band’s newest single, Leave A Trace, is the perfect way to promote their upcoming album. We can’t get enough of the upbeat melody, and the amazing lyric video is the cherry on the cake!

Green & Gold – Lianne La Havas

The catchiness of pop meets the finesse of soul in Lianne La Havas‘ newest album, Blood. Green & Gold, one of her best songs, perfectly showcases her vocal prowess and her songwriting skills.
