Rappers Yo Yo Honey Singh and Raftaar were known to be good friends and the two of them were integral members of the group – Mafia Mundeer. The latter has recently claimed that he is no longer interested in working with Honey Singh and would release his first solo album soon. It is reported that the main reason for this fallout is Yo Yo’s snide remarks on Badshah, an ex-member of their group. Raftaar didn’t take it lightly and decided to move on. This is not the only music group that has split as many times members of a band decide to go on their own ways. Here are some of the musicians who ended their collaboration for various reasons.
After winning the Indian version of the reality show, Popstars, the all-girl pop group, Viva, released their first album in 2002. Unfortunately, one of the members, Seema Ramchandani, left the band soon after the album came out. The remaining members, which consisted of Pratichee Mohapatra, Neha Bhasin, Mahua Kamat, and Anushka Manchanda worked together for another album that released in 2003. Post that, all of them began to focus on solo careers and have been fairly successful.
Jatin Pandit and his younger brother, Lalit, have composed music for Bollywood movies like Khiladi, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Khamoshi: The Musical, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… and Fanaa. After working together for more than decade, they decided to part ways. Reportedly, the split was due to financial issues.
Rhythm Dhol Bass (RDB) was formed by three brothers, Kuly, Manj, and Surj and they have given many hits like Rafta Rafta, Paisa Paisa, Aloo Chaat, and Singh is Kinng. After the demise of Kuly in 2012, Manj issued an official statement about his decision to quit the band to pursue his solo career.
A Band of Boys
Remember the song, Meri Neend Udd Gayi Hai? It was composed by A Band of Boys and was a superhit. The members of this popular group were Karan Oberoi, Siddharth Haldipur, Sherrin Varghese, Chin2 Bhosle and Sudhanshu Pandey. All of them moved on from the band to make a name for themselves, and while some of them acted in TV shows, the rest continued to work in the music industry.
