The music scene this year has been off to a great start with several big song releases. Ed Sheeran dominated the international music scene this January. He had people buzzing with two new songs after a year-long hiatus. A lyric video by Sia, Missy Elliott's surprise comeback, a song from the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack and another Chainsmokers song are just a bit of all the music that came out this month. 1. Shape of You – Ed Sheeran
The music video for the Shape of You, released near the end of the month and immediately had the song soaring to the top of the charts. It's a fun song that we guarantee will be stuck in your head, in a good way.
2. I Don't Wanna Live Forever – ZAYN, Taylor Swift
With yet another hit video, ZAYN's career only seems to be going up. Pairing up with the pop star Taylor Swift for this song from the movie Fifty Shades Darker, this is one song you are going to be listening to for quite some time.
3. Castle on the Hill – Ed Sheeran
With nostalgic lyrics and a gripping chorus, this is another Ed Sheeran song you'll find yourself humming. This song has a much different feel from the foot-tapping Shape of You showing the Sheeran's versatility.
4. Paris – The Chainsmokers
While it's only a lyric video, the Chainsmokers have given us another catchy song. So, we finally have something to listen to other than Closer. They seem to have found their groove with songs about being young and in love.
5. Touch – Little Mix
The all-girl British group released a music video for their song, Touch this January. It has the classic Little Mix sound and it was an expected popular hit.
6. Party Monster – The Weeknd
While not as big as Starboy, this song from The Weeknd's latest album is also repeat-worthy. It's a club song with a catchy hook. And if you're in the mood for a party, make sure to queue this song in your playlist.
7. Move Your Body – Sia
This is another power-packed dance hit from Sia. It's supposed to have been originally written for Shakira, but Sia does more than enough justice to the song.
8. Don't Leave – Snakehips & MØ
The Danish Final Song singer is back with another song, this time with British electronic music duo Snakehips. It's slower than what we've heard from her in the past, but it's definitely another hit collaboration by the singer.
9. I'm Better – Missy Elliott ft Lamb
What do you need to make a good music video? Underwater? Check. Lasers? Check. Exercise ball? Check. Funky outfits? Check. It's been 12 years since her last album. This song is a strong comeback for Missy Elliott, and she's definitely making it better.
10. Run Up – Major Lazer ft PARTYNEXTDOOR & Nicki Minaj
Last year had been great for this electronic group, and this year also seems to be promising. Their new track has collaborations with two big artists has a Carribean island vibe.
