So Ed Sheeran just made his debut in India, and no doubt stole all our hearts away! But here’s what is more amusing than his debut performance.

The 24-year-old ginger has agreed to play a role in the sequel of Happy New Year. Yes. So Ed Sheeran will be making his acting debut in a Bollywood film directed by Farah Khan! And it would only be righteous for him to lend his voice to a song in the film. We’re not quite sure how to react to this news. But it’s pretty amazing how over the last few years, artists are not only crossing borders but even careers and looking for healthy overseas collaboration! Like when Priyanka Chopra made us proud with that raunchy ‘Exotic’ music video starring Pitbull.

Let’s look at some international musicians who have graced Indian cinema with their presence:

1. Tata Young – Dhoom

Not only was this song a rage, but the sizzling music video featuring the Thai singer ensured this was a hit!

2. Rishi Rich – Hum Tum

YRF had tapped the recipe for success! Bhangra and hip-hop came together thanks to English-Indian producer Rishi Rich. Another song that was a rage amongst the youth:

He also went on to collaborate with Jay Sean, Juggy D and Veronica Mehta in the film Kyaa Kool Hai Hum:

3. Snoop Dogg – Singh is Kinng

This crossover took things up a notch. That Akshay Kumar is the true ‘International Khiladi’ of Bollywood was unanimously agreed upon when the world saw him share screen presence with the American rapper with so much swagger.

4. Kylie Minogue – Blue

Akshay Kumar did it once again! The movie might not have done well at the box-office, but we still cannot get the image of Kylie Minogue ‘chiggy-wiggying’ with the khiladi.

5. Akon – Ra.One

The American R&B artist sung not one but two tracks in this film – ‘Chammak Challo’ (which can still be heard at Ganpati processions every year) and ‘Criminal’.

6. Natalie Di Luccio – English Vinglish, Band Baaja Baraat and others.

Remember that firangi-like vocal bit in ‘Navrai Majhi’? Yep. That’s Natalie Di Luccio. Check out 0:22 – 0:38 in the video below and you’ll know what we mean.

*raises glass* Here’s to more collaborations and brilliant music!

Also, we are curious to know which international artist would YOU like to see in a Bollywood track! Drop a comment below and you never know, your wish might just come true!
