The times they are a-changing. Our new normal dictates new rules of entertainment, such as gigs that are live-streamed. Common Roots is one such event to watch out for. It’s a fund-raising online music festival in which 30 musicians will perform for a social cause on Saturday, May 16 and Saturday, May 23 from 2pm for 12 hours. The eclectic artist line-up features musicians such as Aabha Hanjura, Raghu Dixit, Ricky Kej, Quque Mntambo and Al Parkinson (pictured above) among others.
Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be compiling playlists of a few artists we like. Take Al Parkinson, who describes her genre of music as “happy/sad” and plays the electric guitar and ukulele. The singer, a Melbourne native, has played at numerous music festivals across Australia, and sings songs of love and loss. Check them out here. To register for the event, see here.
