Chef: Soundcheck

Verdict: An amazing blend of folk and Bollywood.

Saif Ali Khan is back and this time the audience has high expectations from the Nawab as he gets into the character of a dad who rediscovers his true passion and priorities with the help of food and love for his family. Based on the 2014 film of the same name by Jon Favreau, Chef will narrate the tale of a family on a journey of finding togetherness. Starring Saif Ali Khan, Svar Kamble, Padmapriya and Chandan Roy Sanyal, the trailer has already given us a sneak peek into what the film has in store for us amidst the picturesque locations and impressing direction.

Right now what’s making the most noise is the film’s amazing music composed by Raghu Dixit and Amaal Mallik. The three songs in the film’s album say a lot about the movie’s main plot and are a visual treat to the eyes. Let’s review all three one by one.

1. Shugal Laga Le

Composed and sung by Ragu Dixit and his band, the latter also features in the video. Lively and colorful visuals combined with a typical folk feel, Shugal Laga Le is a foot tapping number with fast beats. The banjo played by Achyuth Jaigopal is one element that grabs a lot of attention. If you are a foodie, the song will take you on a food trip as Saif and his team tours the country.

2. Banjara

Singer Vishal Dadlani is definitely the hero here as his powerful vocals, with breathtaking visuals in the background, take viewers on a gastronomical tour. Witness the father-son bonding amidst the creation of lip-smacking Indian delicacies. You just can't help but get on your dancing shoes with the folk beats in this one.

3. Tere Mere

Composed by Amaal Mallik and sung by Armaan Malik, Tere Mere is a romantic number. In addition to Armaan’s soulful singing, the sound of dholaks and flute will leave you enchanted, especially towards the end. The beautiful lyrics have been penned down by Rashmi Virag.
