Hits & Missed May 2017 - Hindi Medium - BookMyShow

Sound Check: Hindi Medium

Verdict: Hindi Medium, Punjabi Style

The musical duo Sachin-Jigar seems to be on a roll when it comes to their music. With last week's Meri Pyaari Bindu, they gave us a perfect balance of a variety of kinds of music, this week with Hindi Medium they are going plain old Punjabi. As we know, Punjabi tracks work and there hasn't been a movie in recent times without at least one Punjabi track in the jukebox. Starring Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar, Hindi Medium already seems like an interesting watch and if you haven't heard the songs yet, we are sure they would definitely increase your anticipation of the movie.

The first song Suit Suit has an interesting combination of singers Arjun and Guru Randhawa. The smooth transitions between English and Punjabi lyrics are interesting and would certainly want to put this song on repeat. This album is not without the essential recreation of an old song. Thankfully, Sukhbir also sings this version of Ishq Tera Tadpave, a song which has been getting people on the dance floor every time. This will surely get your foot tapping even when you are watching the movie.

Ek Jindari is a surprise addition to the album. While the previous two songs can be termed as party songs, this one definitely is not of the same category. Sung by Priya Saraiya, this song also has aspects of A Cappella-like music. Hoor is that quintessential romantic song that has to be a part of every "love-story" album. Sung by none other than the person to make sure this trend became that way – Atif Aslam.

The whole album is an interesting mix with something old and something new but there is no denying the strong Punjabi influence. It seems to be working though because we cannot stop listening to the album over and over again.
