Top 10 Soundtracks Bollywood Gave Us In The Last Decade

Bollywood is incomplete without music as the latter forms an integral part in the story’s narration. Music is, in fact, the soul of any Bollywood film. It can make or break the film. Even before the film's release, its songs leave a lasting impression. Take for example the upcoming Shah Rukh Khanstarrer Jab Harry Met Sejal. The songs are driving people crazy and we can't wait for the film to release. If you haven’t heard the songs yet, check out our sound check for Jab Harry Met Sejal.

Talking about soundtracks, Bollywood has time and again given us music worth remembering. From the time of Raj Kapoor to the present day Ranbir Kapoor, Bollywood’s music has come a long way. As BookMyShow turns a decade old this year, we thought of putting a glance on all the good things Bollywood has given us in the last 10 years. So let’s talk about the best albums the decade saw and the songs which still find a place in our playlist.

Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008)
When it’s A.R. Rahman, you know that the music is going to be magical. Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na’s music was youthful, trendy and peppy, with one jazz rendition by the Mozart himself. To relive the nostalgia, listen to the songs again.

Dev D (2009)
The music is trippy, intoxicating and the album comprises of 17 songs – a fact many people did not realize while watching the film. Anurag Kashyap’s best work till date, Dev D’s music was definitely one of the strongest points in the film. The credit for that goes to Amit Tridevi.

My Name is Khan (2010)
The talented trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy gave us breathtaking music in this one, adding to Karan Johar’s charm. The music of this film took the overall viewing experience to a whole new level.

Rockstar (2011)
Do we need to elaborate on the awesomeness of this album? A.R. Rahman's collaboration with the dynamic Mohit Chauhan was electrifying. The musical was one of the best Bollywood creations in that year.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012)
How enticing Shah Rukh was throughout the film! With Gulzar penning down the lyrics, the film’s album was destined to be a hit. One of our favorite songs from the movie is the energetic Rabbi Shergill`s rendition of the song Challa.

Aashiqui 2 (2013)

A song that became an anthem for many, this musical ticked all the boxes. The sizzling chemistry between the lead pair, with the new age music in the background, was perfect for die-hard romantics.

PK (2014)
Not as popular as the other films in this list, PK’s album was decent enough to make its way into people’s personal playlists. Our favorite from the film is Love Is a Waste of Time. Well, how true, isn’t it?

Bombay Velvet (2015)
The jazzy album with quirky lyrics, yet exceptional instrumentation, garnered a lot of praise from music aficionados. The bar was set high with Amit Trivedi’s magnetic composition, but alas, the film’s story did not live up to expectations. But the music never gets old and so here is Bombay Velvet’s jukebox for you to get back to the classy era of jazz music.

Mirzya (2016)
A seductively fascinating album, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy produced one of their finest music in Mirzya. Why don’t you listen to it and decide for yourself?

Jagga Jasoos (2017)
A musical marvel, Jagga Jasoos is one of its kind. The musical doesn’t only hit the right chords but also adds emotions to all songs. It is definitely one of Bollywood’s best products when it comes to innovations in music.
