Bollywood has often been criticized for being lewd and sexist towards women. Movies such as Kya Kool Hai Hum 2, Grand Masti and Mastizaade are known to propagate item numbers, crude jokes on body parts of women, unhealthy body image, objectification of women, and much more. These movies haven't helped much to uplift the status of women in Indian society, where they are always placed beneath the male majority. However, some filmmakers have realized the impact cinema has on the audience and tried to create movies that inspire the female youth of the country to be strong, bold and fearless.

You can be a woman and be as carefree as you'd like to be. Be happy. Enjoy life. Live it your way. Do not care about what other people say. As Taylor Swift said – "Haters gonna hate, hate, hate."

"O Womaniya" – Gangs of Wasseypur

Yes, it is okay for a woman to have desires. No, it is not a man's thing. We need to stop categorizing emotions as male or female. Emotions have no gender. Desire is the most primal feeling and does not need to be suppressed.

"Aye Bachchu" – Ghajini

The protagonist of this film, Asin, was carefree, fearless and did not hesitate to speak her mind. The song inspires its listeners to be more like her!

 "Teri Jai Ho" – Gulaab Gang 

This song is a tribute to all the women in the world! Think of the most phenomenal women – Maya Angelou, Angela Merkel, Amelia Earheart, Oprah Winfrey, Princess Diana – this song is inspired by them. Listen to it when you need a boost in your morale. 

"Jugni" – Queen

Say NO to oppression. Stand up for yourself and be what you want to be. There's nothing that can hold you back, but yourself. You do not need a runaway groom to make you realize that!

"Love You Zindagi" – Dear Zindagi 

Over centuries, women have been put down by patriarchy. But we always find a way to rise up above the pettiness of human beings and enjoy our lives our way, and this song reminds us to do just that. 

"Main Kaun Hoon" – Secret Superstar 

We conclude with this song that reminds women that we cannot let fear rule our lives. Women are made of pain and we can thrive despite any difficulties. Because we are WOMEN!
