We all know what an important and special place a first film holds in an actor`s heart. It can make or break an actor`s career. But what if your debut is not the first film you signed for? Many times, due to unforeseen circumstances, an actor’s first film gets delayed and the second movie becomes the actor’s debut. The position an actor holds today is often based on the audience reception they get for their debut film, so, the debut better be a good one! Here are a few South Indian film actors whose first film was not their debut:
Kalidas, the son of Mollywood actors Jayaram and Parvathy, had initially signed up for Tamil movie Oru Pakka Kathai directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan. However, it is the Tamil movie Meenkuzhambum Mannpaanayum releasing this month which will mark his debut as a lead actor.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu:
She made her debut as a heroine with the movie Yee Maya Chesave directed by Gautham Menon. She was, however, set to debut with the movie Moscowin Kaveri directed by Ravi Varman.
Priya Anand was originally signed in 2008 for Pugaippadam, which was directed by Rajesh Lingam but director I. Ahmed cast her in Vaamanan. Pugaippadam could release only in 2010, whereas Vaamanan, which released in 2009, became her official debut.
The music composer announced he would make his debut as a lead actor with the movie Pencil directed by Mani Nagaraj. However, he debuted with the horror movie Darling directed by Sam Anton.
