Review: The fourth rendition of Paranormal Activity 4 turns out to be a comedy rather than a horror flick. The directors and the producers of this movie should seriously reconsider naming the movie Para–(ab)-normal Activity. Its ironic how a movie can be so funny yet so painful to watch at the same time.
The story is the same old Paranormal Activity drill. There are demons that pop out of nowhere for no apparent reason, kids doing weird stuff, the set up of point-of-view cameras and the usual surprise elements. The first half of the movie will leave the audience in splits thanks to it’s good comedy and funny (not humorous) acting mixed with quirky lines. You will have a better time if there are people in the audience who will gasp and yell at some of the film’s suprise moments.
The second half of the movie was a drag, the writers of this movie definitely tried to make the second half scary but it was in vain. After a hilarious first half, the second half seemed like a let down. Not only is it dry but is also not very scary (unless the audience comprises people who get scared for no rhyme or reason). Some moments in the movie will give the audience a slight shudder and that’s about it.
However, the movie’s last scene is awesome- It may not horrify you but still manages to make you laugh. Also, Xbox owners can look forward to a really cool trick that is depicted in the movie.
The actors did a strictly mediocre job and there are times in the movie when the actors will scare you more than the demon but there’s no scene in particular that will make you jump out of your seat.
Verdict: Watch it with a whole bunch of friends and you will laugh out loud. Literally!
