Actresses can never be friends. So they say. However, it’s great to see how new girls on the bloc, the Gen-Y actresses are slowly changing the norm. Perhaps, it is the security that comes along with each film they work on, perhaps it is the ample amount of work that is prevalent in the industry today, or the wide acceptance from fans worldwide that has brought about the change in perspective.
There were the likes of Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla and Sridevi, all contemporaries in their heyday, who’ve made their respective comebacks, but are still asked the same question.
In a recent interview with filmmaker, producer and the famous talk show host, Karan Johar, the relatively new actresses, Parineeti Chopra and Aliya Bhatt made a star-studded appearance. Both actresses, made a fabulous style statement, dressed in evening gowns. But it wasn’t just the actresses or their style that spoke on the Koffee couch that evening.
Having rubbished one too many rumors about their alleged catfights or their rivalry, the two girls seemed very comfortable and confident in their skin. Their seniors in the industry, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor seem to have had quite an impact on the two newbies. Priyanka Chopra believes in being comfortable in her skin, and that’s one strong word of advice that she gives to both Parineeti (cousin) and Aliya.
As for Kareena Kapoor, both actresses, incidentally, were asked to audition on the same scene that originally had been done by Kareena Kapoor in Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met. Funny, the things that fate does to you.
The season’s most-talked about girls, were a fun bunch on the Koffee couch. Parineeti even appointed Aliya as her stylist to avoid anymore flak with regards to her not-so appealing sense of style. And that’s not all, Aliya even confessed her love for Ranbir Kapoor while Parineeti said she loves Saif Ali Khan. Wonder what the handsome hunks’ belles would have to say about this confession of true love on National Television.
But one thing’s for sure, the girls are definitely no rivals. They are perhaps just a misunderstood bunch of girls who are still finding their place in the industry.
