Promising Careers That Abruptly Ended

The entertainment industry is not for everyone. Sadly, only a chosen few manage to make it big. They were some lucky rising stars of the industry who gave their best right from the first time we saw them. Not only were they appreciated and applauded for their work, but also widely accepted by the audience. These were some celebrities who had a career to look forward to, but as fate had it, a promising career was destroyed an unfortunate untimely death. Here’s a list of some celebrities we thought we would see more of on screen but they took our leave, only to never return.

Jiah Khan

She was only of those lucky ones who got to make her debut opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Nishabd, post this she starred in Ghajini with Aamir Khan and Housefull opposite Akshay Kumar. All three were massive hits. Jiah’s suicide at the age of 25 came as a shock to many.

Ishmeet Singh

The 19-year-old’s joy knew no bounds when he was declared as the winner of Voice of India in 2008. With so many singing offers that were coming his way, Ishmeet’s mysterious death in a swimming pool in Maldives made people wonder if it was really an accident.

Divya Bharati

One of the most mysterious deaths of Bollywood is hers. A rising star in Bollywood and Tollywood, wife of Sajid Nadiadwala, she made her debut at the age of 16 and acted in more than 20 films. Divya fell off the fifth storey of her building when she was 19 and succumbed to her injuries leaving behind two unreleased films, one imcomplete movie and many signed contracts. The mystery of what exactly happened is yet unsolved.

Smita Patil

The 31-year-old actress was a recipient of many awards including the Padma Shri in 1985. A popular face from the 70s and 80s, Smita had over ten films to release when she passed away after giving birth to Prateik Babbar. Years later, speculations were circulated that the cause was medical negligence.

Sanjeev Kumar

A small role in Hum Hindustaani, 1960, is where it all began from. One of the most influential actors of Bollywood died of a heart attack at the age of 47 in 1985, leaving behind a dozen unreleased films. His last movie, Professor Ki Padosan released in 1993.

Pratyusha Banerjee

This was one of the most recent shockers of the Indian television industry. Pratyusha’s perfectly growing career started at the age of 18 as the favorite of every household – Anandi in popular TV show Balika Vadhu. Banerjee, a former contestant of Bigg Boss and was also seen in Power Couple and Naagin just a few months before her death. The pregnant actress was to marry boyfriend Rahul Raj but allegedly, personal problems led her to take this drastic step.

Although not around anymore, these celebrities are still remembered and missed by their fans.
