Michael Bay's most popular and the criticised work is definitely the Transformers series. A toy line gave birth to an animated series which in turn inspired the first Transformers movie in 2007. The movie had everything that people would have loved at that time – mind-blowing action sequences, robots and conspiracy theories. Such was its popularity that a sequel was made which even earned more at the Box Office than the first movie. But all this does become a little boring when you watch the same formula multiple times. We fell in love with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee and thankfully they are consistent throughout the series. With the fifth instalment hitting the theatres tomorrow, it is time to look back and rank worst to best all the Michael Bay Transformers movies till now.
The last on the list is definitely this 2014 venture. Not only did we miss Shia LeBouf in this instalment, but also the new characters did not invite the same amount of feelings as the original cast did. Although the introduction of dinobots was well appreciated, this movie did not hold the same charm as the predecessors.
Banking on the success of the first movie, this movie too focused on the war between Autobots and Decepticons. But it failed to wow the audience like the first one. Michael Bay and the team had to work very hard after that for the fans to come back to the series.
This is the first movie where a little of human history was intertwined with the Transformers' history. The moon landing is perhaps everyone's favorite conspiracy theory. As much as we might deny, it was one of the reasons why everyone lined up to watch this one. And the movie being excellent was an added bonus.
There is nothing that beats the original and this list proves that. We have seen a variety of fights that the Autobots have been in but the original is our favorite. It would also have been a classic had there been no sequels.
