Laughter is indeed the best medicine and when cracked on things we already hate till eternity, the pleasure quotient just shoots up. This is what Sorabh Pant does in his two and a half hours show Rant of the Pant, an instant hit that took place across several countries and cities since the beginning of 2017. Being the last show of the Rant of the Pant series, Sorabh Pant made sure he made it as memorable as possible. Organised by OML Entertainment, the show saw a packed hall waiting impatiently for the comedian to take centre stage.
Sorabh Pant’s hilarious dance moves as he came on stage made everyone LOL and in no time, the audience saw the comedian picking on them the way a chaddi buddy does. What started off as one liner jokes on Gujarat’s no-alcohol policy soon turned into uproarious comedy sessions on everything under the sun – politics, religion, gay rights, fairness creams, terrorism, feminism and the list goes on. The man is really good at what he does and that was evident from his cryptic jokes on sensitive issues of religion and politicians. One example was the reference to a joke on gaurakshaks. The joke went above the heads of many but the ones who got it ended up rolling with laughter.
Apart from these social issues, Sorabh Pant also discussed the embarrassments of his personal life which obviously we can’t describe here. One of the best political jokes was made on Narendra Modi’s USA speech which he ended with the famous Star Wars quote "May the Force be With You" and his counterpart Obama’s speech that ended with "Bade Bade Desho Me Aisi Choti Choti Baatein Hoti Rehti Hai". Jokes made on Fitbit, condoms, family planning, Arvind Kejriwal and topics as random as sanitary pads kept the audience’s funny bones tickled throughout.
One aspect that I loved about Sorabh Pant’s comedy was his alertness with respect to current affairs. All his jokes also had a certain message. His hilarious discussion on fairness creams in India not just gave the audience a mirror to look at themselves but also gave out loud a message to respect and love the way we are.
Being one of the best comedians in the country and one of the founders of East India Comedy, rest assured that Sorabh Pant will set the stage on fire with his antics and jokes always. Do not forget to book tickets for the comedian’s next show:
