Let me begin by saying Salman Khan’s films should NOT be reviewed. It’s a HIT, no matter what the review. His last runway success ‘Dabangg’, happened to use Salman’s star power as a catalyst for a good story and some seriously clever direction. But ladies and gentlemen, this is no ‘Dabangg’. “Ready”, in fact, falls into a category of films that has long disguised themselves as family entertainers. A category that Askhay Kumar generally dominates. Post ‘No Entry’ and ‘Wanted’, however, Salman has made fast inroads and become the mascot of this genre of films, which, at my polite best I can classify as ‘time pass’.
“Ready” has a storyline that seems like a re-hash of countless other Anees Bazmee films. Couple that with bad chemistry between the lead pair and some very old laugh less gags. But none of that really matters to our whistling hooting audience. Because “Ready” has something that most films with no story, screenplay or logic have. “Ready” has Salman Khan. ‘BHAI’ as most people call him fondly, will definitely garner whistles and hoots with his ‘Dhinka Chika’ moves and his shirtless act (how can there be a Salman film without a shirtless act in the climax?)
Verdict: Die Hard ‘BHAI’ fans, needless to say, will ‘Dhinka Chika’ their way into the theatres and enjoy this ‘Character Dheela’ movie thoroughly. As for the non-Salman fans, I challenge you to resist the urge to stand up and whistle and dance with the audience to Salman’s supreme ease, confidence and sheer star power.
