5 Reasons You’re Not Losing Weight

So, you want to lose weight and get fit? Now, where do you start from? Join a gym? Buy some healthy food items? Well, there’s no doubt that the only way to shed some kilos is by adopting a healthy lifestyle. Say ‘no’ to junk food, drink a lot of water, and exercise at least thrice a week. If you do all of this for a considerable amount of time, the results will definitely show. The only thing you have got to be careful about when starting your weight-loss journey is misleading information. There are many false fitness-related theories that people still believe in, which tend to hamper their progress. Are you, too, falling for one of these fitness myths? Read on to be sure that you are not.

More is better Weight

Some people believe that the more work they work out, the more weight they’ll lose. Unfortunately, if you spend too much time exercising, it does more harm than good. Besides leaving you exhausted, it makes you lose muscle weight. If you are planning to burn fat, there’s no way you want that. So, keep your workout sessions anywhere between 45 to 90 minutes. Anything more than that is absolutely unnecessary.

Fats make you fatweight

Well, if you consume a lot of butter, fried food, and cheese, it will make you fat. Still, your body does need fats in small quantities. Add peanut butter, avocados, nuts, and other healthy fats to your diet as they have high nutritional value. Besides that, eat a lot of protein-rich foods and slow digesting carbs.

Cardio, the way to go

There’s no doubt that cardio is one of the best ways to lose weight, but weight training is a must, too. If you only focus on running, cycling or other cardio-related exercises, your body will burn fewer calories after the initial workouts. So, mix it up by lifting some weights, and you’ll soon find your clothes getting loose.

Rest day. What’s that?

Weight It may seem like a great idea to work out every day of the week. But doing so will not give your body enough time to recover from your workouts. A rest day is needed especially after an intense weight-lifting session. This gives your muscle the time to rest and grow. Also, make sure that you get enough sleep to speed up the recovery process.

‘Yay!’ for Spot Reduction?Weight

Sorry to burst your bubble but NO, it doesn’t work. You can do a thousand crunches and still end up losing weight on any other part of your body, but the abs. So, stop wasting time by working on certain muscle groups. Instead, focus on total body workouts as over a period of time, they will show great results.
